Graffiti Mural West India Quay
For once, graffiti in car parks is being encouraged. VINCI Park, the specialist car parking operator, has teamed up with east London – based charity Community Links to add a splash of colour to the exterior of VINCI Park’s West India Quay car park.
As part of the month-long West India Quay summer festival, the team of 10 budding artists between the ages of 13 and 16 from the ‘Education Links’ programme were given the opportunity to paint their interpretation of summer in the city. The mural project, led by locally-based art therapist Ravinder Atwal, will be on display throughout the month of July,
Phillip Herring, VINCI Park Commercial Director, says: “As a local employer in East London, VINCI Park is keen to develop strong relationships within the community, particularly with young people. Investing and developing people is important to our business and that’s why we’re committed to investing in community-based programmes like Community Links, which educate and empower individuals with the skills they need to improve their opportunities in life.”
Geraldine Blake, CEO Community Links, comments: “It’s great for Community Links to be working with VINCI Park. They have provided a fantastic opportunity for the young people from Education Links, which helps children excluded from school continue in their education, and the mural is making a great impact on West India Quay.”
