New retail model for Watford Parking Shop

Working with Watford Borough Council, VINCI Park has developed a new template for its parking shops.

A new 10 year parking management contract, which started in February 2008, included modernisation of the existing Parking Shop in Watford Town Centre, which also serves Three Rivers District Council and is heavily used.

“Working jointly with Watford Borough Council and PW Shopfitters, we came up with a retail/bank/building society-style concept. We wanted to get away from the typical ‘them-and-us’ environment. So the lighting is brighter; and the counter is at a lower, more comfortable height for visitors, who also have a reception seating area, the use of a writing desk for completing paperwork, and an information point” said Danielle Mothes, Marketing Manager.

Although the new design is more expensive than that of a conventional ‘basic’ parking shop, the value to us and our clients is a better relationship with the driving public, from whom we have already had encouraging feedback.

“This investment and refurbishment of the Parking Shop shows our determination, along with our partners at VINCI Park, to provide a first-class service to the motorists of Watford” said Watford Parking Manager, Linda Baker.
